can anybody tell me what the correct bulb is for the two inboard tail lights? these are the two lights that are tail lights only with no signal or brake light function.

All 6 bulbs are type 1157. The inner ones are wired for taillight only . Not brake/ turn signal and taillight.

mine wont take an 1157 they have a center contact and require a bulb with both studs at the bottom of the bulb and not staggered like the 1157

I checked the '65 service manual and also one of my cars. The correrct bulb should be a 1157.
The socket for the inner light should be the same as the other ones with the exception of it having only one wire.

my sockets are not able to accept the 1157 so maybe they have been changed. my car ius an early build so maybe that makes a difference.

Have you tried an 1156?? I think they're a single filament type.
