Dan,

This will be my first missed year in about five years now.

Money is tight this year and I have several things yet I'd like to get done on my convertible.

I'm thinking we'll just need to make next year twice as good to make up for not being there this year.    ;D

Me and a buddy have been saying for 20 years we're gonna go.

Haven't made it there yet.

I'm so ashamed. :-[

The only year I have had the opportunity to attend was when it was in Ohio. Had a great time at it , even though it was hot as blazes. Plan to get there again, just not this year and probably not next year. One of my daughters graduates from college this year , same timing as GS nats. The other graduates next year.

I would love to go and show my '65 GS, but I can't get myself motivated to drive 12 hours in July heat by myself to get there!   If I had an enclosed trailer and a big enough truck to pull it, things would be different, but my open trailer and F150 short bed won't suffice for a trip through the mountains to get there.  If only it were closer....    I do have it entered in the AACA national show at the Charlotte Autofair next month though!

I'm going...easy drive, fun times.   I missed last year for a wedding in England-
Luckily I'm not with the english lady anymore.   Pretty sure my 65 will not be done,  ::)
may have to roll in a 67.

All that time spent across the Pond and now you don't even get to play in the Puddle!

I haven't gone in years, but I was a regular in the early days.
First time was the 2nd GS Nats in 1982. There were about 50 cars, show was held in the Howard Johnsons parking lot. Drove my gold 66 GS from my college in Columbus, Ohio. Then in June, we drove out the the Car Craft Nats in Indy.
Took my replacement blue 66 GS in '83. Raced Lee Laursons red 65 GS 4speed car about 6 times. We ran fender-to- fender every run. Good times!
Drove the 4.11 geared Blue 66 a few times, my 79 Turbo Regal, then trailered the Blue car down twice after i got my 91 F150.
I went almost every year until my last year in 1993.

It's a long drive from here, a good 14 hours. The early date makes it difficult as well. lots to do on the farm in the spring.

I did make Jim Shiels' Buick picnic last year. Drove my 66 Special 600 miles r/t with the fresh Richmond 5 speed. Jimmy has the worlds largest collection of 66 GS's! Last I heard it was 12 cars! ;D
I attend Yardleys picnic every year, thats a good 25 minutes away!
I'm putting a red 66 GS together now that should be a good highway car. Hoping to  make some more of these events in the future.

The early date was allways a problem for us too. With the kids in school, it didn't work .
Now that they are grown and off on their own , hope to be able to make it to some more.
