A Arm Dust Shields

Lots of places are reproducing the A arm dust shields (the rubber like things on the inner fenders) but nobody that I have found seems to have fasteners. What is everybody using to fasten these to the inner fender ? Thanks.

They were put on with staples and clips. The clips are a lot easier.
Fusick has the right clips, PN 3774. I think you'll need about a dozen.
$1.50 each.

A while back when ordering the window sweep material from Steele Rubber the sales person let it slip that some of their parts came from another supplier - Rubber The Right Way http://www.rubbertherightway.com/1965-buick-4235-ctg.htm Went to that site and found the same item for $1.25 each. To do the A arms and the inside front fenders you will need 20 clips. At $1.25 each that's $25.00. The dust shields themselves 'only' cost $15.00.

Galvanized or stainless wire will work in place of the staples. Drill out the existing staple holes a tad larger and thru the dust shield to make install easier.

You can buy the rubber dust shield material in bulk from CARS, about $25 for a 12" x 48" piece.
Do the 65's use it anywhere else?

Walt, the material is not used any place else on the car that I know of. My post car does not have staple size holes. It has the bigger holes that the clips would go in.

You can use the same material to replace the vertical pieces that run between the radiator.  ( see photo )

The side panel pieces weren't used on the GS cars.

My car was pretty much all there including those pieces, so I replaced them.  Maybe someone put them there.  Oh well, thanks for the info.

That could be the case. I think were used on the small motor cars to fill a gap in the radiator/shroud
placement. I think all the core support side stampings had the holes pierced for them though.
I parted a 65 300 engine car last year that had em, so...??

Ahhh, ok.
That's where the 66's differ.....they're stapled on. I didn't know about the clips.
66's also had flaps under the headlights to fill the gap between the headlight door and bumper. Same material.
I vaguely (very vaguely!) remember seeing a filler strip between the taillights and rear bumper.... I thought that was on my 65.

Walt, there is something between the bumper and the taillights but don't know if its made of this material.

The piece on the rear body is short compared to the 70 thats the length of the entire lip. The a arm shields on my65  conv are staped from the backside instead of top like later cars .
